Knockout weekend at Knockhill as Rowan secures Scottish Silverware!

Last weekend, Sheffield teenager Rowan Campbell-Pilling travelled up to Scotland for round 7 of the 2025 FIA British Formula 4 season, where he achieved two podium finishes and the Pirelli Hardest Charger Award.

Rowan’s visit to the 1.27 mile thrilling track fit with undulations galore was greeted with success right from the start, with Rowan achieving P2 in Free Practice 1 and P1 in Free Practice 2. His success continued in Qualifying on Saturday, with Rowan setting the best second-fastest lap time, putting him in pole position for Race 1. After post-race penalty adjustments, Rowan finished 3rd on the podium, securing his first trophy of the weekend.

Rowan’s success didn’t end there, with him securing more points in Race 2, climbing from his starting position in the reverse-grid race of P11 up to P8 when he passed the chequered flag. All focus was then on the ITV Sport feature race on Sunday – the last race of the weekend in the Scottish sunshine, where Rowan started in P2.

It wasn’t long before Rowan made the jump to the top of the leader board and began building the gap between himself and his opponents. Despite numerous safety cars and the race ending under a red flag, Rowan defended his position all the way to the end, winning his first F4 race and topping the podium.

The Motorsport UK Academy Driver’s success didn’t end there, with Rowan also earning the Pirelli Hardest Charger Award, bringing home an extra set of Pirelli tyres for his team at JHR Developments to use in private testing.

Rowan’s victory was watched by his friends, family and partners both trackside and at home, with many sharing their pride and words of encouragement on social media after what was a wonderful weekend at one of the most challenging tracks on the F4 calendar.

Rowan’s next race of the season will take place at Donington on the Grand Prix circuit on the 30th and 31st of August. British Formula 4 races are available to watch live on ITV 4.
