Sheffield teenager, Rowan Campbell-Pilling, returns from Silverstone with two podium finishes after an impressive fifth round of the 2026 GB3 Championship.
Back on home soil following European rounds at Spa-Francorchamps, the Hungaroring and the Red Bull Ring, Rowan arrived at the UK’s most iconic circuit in strong form.
Racing on Silverstone’s 3.6-mile Grand Prix circuit, the teenager reached speeds in excess of 160mph and took iconic corners such as Copse and Stowe at more than 140mph.
The Xcel Motorsport driver showed strong pace throughout the weekend, consistently featuring in the top three during free practice, setting several of the fastest laps, before qualifying second and fifth ahead of the main races.
Rowan, enjoying a highly successful weekend at Silverstone, went on to secure two podium finishes, along with valuable championship points, across three hard-fought races.
After charging to third place in race one, he followed up with his best result of the season so far in race two, taking second place after running within a second of the leader throughout.
Starting 11th for the reverse-grid finale, Rowan had another impressive drive through the field, including a bold overtake through the high-speed Maggots and Becketts section, to finish seventh and cap off an excellent weekend of racing.
Rowan said: “To take two podiums at Silverstone, in my first year at this level, shows how much preparation and dedication has led to this point. The engineering from the team has been outstanding, and it’s been great to have everything align as we took to the UK’s most iconic track.
“I’m so grateful for the support from family, friends and our partners, and especially to those that joined us at Silverstone. To have everyone behind me while achieving two podium finishes is incredibly rewarding.
“We have truly maximised everything this weekend and will continue to work hard as we head to Donington for the next round.”
Rowan is currently eighth in the overall standings of the GB3 championship. For the last two years, he has collected over 30 trophies as he’s progressed through two seasons of British Formula 4 and achieved third place in the 2025 F4 UAE Trophy Series.
The next GB3 round will take place at Donington Park on the 3-6 September.
